Domain server pointing not working out
-
I had a website with my own domain name on WordPress.com. The domain name was registered with another company but I bought hosting with WordPress.com less than a month ago. I decided to get the website hosted at another hosting company. So I pointed the nameservers away from WordPress and to the new host. I went to WordPress and canceled hosting and removed the domain from the list of domains leaving just the xxxxx.wordpress.com domain there.
I have uploaded the website at the new host but every time I type the domain name, I get a WordPress interface which has:
“Welcome to the famous five minute WordPress installation process! You may want to browse the ReadMe documentation at your leisure. Otherwise, just fill in the information below and you’ll be on your way to using the most extendable and powerful personal publishing platform in the world ….”
and then fields for me to fill out.
I don’t think is right.
Is this happening because the nameservers are pointing to WordPress or is there something else going on? I seemed to have pointed the website to the right site and also I uploaded the website correctly I think, including changing the database names and so on. I don’t know why this is happening. Can someone help me? If there is a problem with the pointing of the nameservers, who can I contact? I can’t see an email address or phone support number anywhere.

the famous 5 minute install is a WordPress.ORG issue – you need to get help from them since that means you are no longer hosted here
If you “uploaded” your site with any files you got from your site here on WordPress.COM then you have probably made a mistake right off the bat, since you can only export or import files – and while the Export file (.XML) can be “uploaded” to a web site, that will not give you anything that will work at all – the .XML file needs to be Imported to your new install
Also once name servers are changed it can take 24 to 72 hours for access to become reliable
