Domain Set Up/Possible Bug?
-
So I bought a domain on Google. I want to use it on the free blog version. When I try to enter it in, it says: ‘map this domain, $13/year.’ However when I move forward They want to charge me $99 for the year. Which is right? I prefer the $13/year, or free.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

People who have had WordPress.com accounts for a number of years can still renew domain mapping for $13. But new users now need to first purchase an upgraded plan. A Personal plan at $35.88 should be sufficient.

Hello Magic Robot…thank you for the info. I guess I’m still a little confused. WP isn’t trying to charge me the $35, it wants $99/yearly. So is this a bug? Before I put my credit card info there I want to make sure I’m being charged the right amount. I’m not sure why it’s going wrong.

You can buy a Personal plan for $35.88 per year. If you just purchase that first and map a domain you own afterwards (with the domain credit you’ll get by purchasing the plan) it should work.

Hi there,
If you want to use Personal instead of Premium, please go to My Site ->Plans and add the plan first. Then you can go to Domains and add the domain afterwards. You won’t be charged extra when adding the domain.
