domain setup – How can I access dashboard thru wordpress?

  • Unknown's avatar

I started a new blog and din’t remember how, so I apparently signed up to use my own domain name, and WP charged $40. It had an option of ‘save for later’ and clicked that. Now I have (somewhere) a site of:
http://w2w.victoriachames.com/Save%20for%20later/wordpress/ and can’t find any way to access any admin for it. I want to cancel it, but can’t because I can’t get into it. WP sent an email that said You can log in to the administrator account with the following information:
    Username: writertowriter
Password: The password you chose during the install.
BUT WordPress login refuses to accept that username and password, and won’t even recognize the user name. The site is up on the web, but I have no way to access or develop it or post to it – nothing. WP says it doesn’t exist, but it does. It’s a WP ‘sample site’ but no access.

I didn’t know how WP would set this up, I really just wanted to LINK from my website to the blog. Now it has given the blog the same name as the site, and if I upload anything it will overwrite /destroy my whole website. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP! HOW CAN I CANCEL THIS! WordPressd doesn’t seem to have any kind of tech support, and searching the ‘support’ info turns up no help. Freaking out here…

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hello, Victoria!

It seems that your domain http://w2w.victoriachames.com/Save%20for%20later/wordpress/ is running a self-hosted version of WordPress (available on WordPress.org).

WordPress.com and WordPress.org are different platforms.

This page explains the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org in more detail, if you’re interested:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

Here at WordPress.com we can help you only with sites running on our system, but it’s possible to find help on the forum focused on WordPress.org:

    https://wordpress.org/support/

You can also contact your hosting company (bravehost.com according to your DNS) and ask them to delete that site.

    Cheers!
