Domain & Storage upgrade questions.

    I have had my blog running for a couple months now. The blog is to support and be a companion piece to the podcast I plan on launching for it this summer. When I launch the podcast I will be looking to upgrade the space so that I can use my blog to actually host the audio files.

    I am also looking into the possibility of purchasing the domain option so I can drop the “wordpress” out of the URL.

    I was looking at the Upgrade menus and after reading the info I have a couple questions:

    What exactly is “mapping” Does that mean that anyone who had the old url with the “wordpress” in it, would be re-directed to the new URL w/o the “wordpress” in it? Also, how does the process work exactly. I saw the box where you type in the domain you want, so since I already have the blog going, do I just type in the domain name without the wordpress in it, and once I click the button, wordpress software does the rest? Will it know that it is the blog I already am running and that I just want to drop the “wordpress” I just want to make sure it doesn’t think I am trying to start up a new blog when I go to fork over the money.

    The other question is about the storage upgrade. If I initially upgrade with the 5GB upgrade, and then start to run short on space and decide I need more space, do I have the option to add another 5GB to my storage, or do I have to then go to the next level and add 15GB at that rate? Since I really only plan on hosting audio files (at least for the forseeable future) I don’t think I will ever need over 10GBs a year(if that even)

    1) Yes. Your blog technically has two addresses, the old whatever.wordpress.com one and the new Whatever.com one. Visitors can use either, but they’ll be directed to whichever one you set as Primary. If you want this upgrade, do it from the upgrade page of the blog you want it to apply to and WordPress will figure it out. You need a Paypal account tho.

    2) I am not sure: you’d better contact staff and ask via your dashboard Help button.
