Domain Subscription not showing a Renew button

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi everyone,

Our blog has expired domains that we need to renew and they appear under the “My Upgrades” section, but there’s no option to renew on the page.

If anyone has any info on why this is happening, we’d love to fix this ASAP.

    Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Just following up. Does anyone have any information or experience as to why this is happening?

You need to be logged in as the EXACT account that owns the upgrades to see the renew button, is there another account that might have been used to purchase the upgrades?

Which upgrades for which blog do you need help with?

Hi auxclass and thanks so much for the fast reply. That does make a lot of sense. Unfortunately the person who set up our domains is no longer with us (and he has been removed as an admin for the blog).

We have three domain mapping upgrades for the smugnotes.wordpress.com and it looks like they all need to be renewed.

    Any ideas?

Are you still on good terms with the person that set the blog and upgrades up? Or was the account set up with a company email address that you still have access to?

If so, can you have the person account transfer the upgrades to you?

You are in a bit of good luck since the upgrades are not domain name renewals. So worst case is you can let the mapping upgrades expire then buy them again with a new account. You will probably need some help from the staff as sometimes the upgrades will have a bit of still function period or the old upgrades need to be cleared from the blog after they expire so they can be purchased new by another account. I have seen this done a few times

I will flag this for the staff to help you

I seriously appreciate this, thank you! I appreciate the tip and I’ll see if there’s anything that we can do on our end, since it was set up using a company email address.

You be welcome & good luck

    Hi schmooblog,

It looks like the upgrades owner has upgrades on a number of SmugMug-related blogs, not all of which have expired. Ideally, it would be great if he would contact us and ask us to transfer the upgrades to another admin user.

Otherwise, if you can let me know which blog(s) and which upgrades you’d like to renew, I can clear out the expired upgrades, allowing you to purchase them under your account.

Hi Jackie! Thank you so much for taking a look. The person hasn’t been in contact with us for quite some time, so let’s clear out all the expired upgrades for the smugnotes.wordpress.com account.

Question: The main URL we use for our news blog is news.smugmug.com. Will your clearing this stuff out break that link for our viewers until I re-purchase the domain mapping upgrade?

    Hi schooblog,

You’re right, removing the mapping would bring the sites down temporarily.

Because you are an admin on some of the blogs, and the domain itself is in good standing, I was able to sort things out on our end so you can renew the domain mapping for these three blogs:

    news.smugmug.com
    release-notes.blogs.smugmug.com
    releasenotes.blogs.smugmug.com

There are other smugmug blogs with expired domain mapping for which you are not listed as an admin user. I will need to hear from one of the admins on those blogs before we can move forward with those.
