Domain – "This webpage is not available"

    Hi,

    I bought a domain through Google (jacobcullum.com), then mapped the domain to my WP website (jacobcullum.wordpress.com) through the WP store. After changing the DNS, I waited for the changes to take effect–knowing that it could take up to 72 hours. However, within a few minutes my site had the new domain, and I was a happy customer. However, hours later (just now) the domain suddenly started displaying the message “This webpage is not available,” and that “The server at jacobcullum.com can’t be found, because the DNS lookup failed.” I couldn’t find any threads detailing issues about the domain working at first, and then failing to connect later on. I tried multiple browsers, and nothing worked.

    Hi there.

    It looks like the changes to your domain are still propagating throughout the web. I’ve taken a look at jacobcullum.com and here’s a screenshot of what I’m seeing on my end:

    Everything looks to be setup and working correctly on my end. It can take up to 72 hours (though usually much less) for new information about a domain to propagate throughout the web. The resulting propagation time can lead to a delay in being able to view your site at its new domain, and is what I believe is causing the error you’re seeing.

    Howdy,

    Hmm, okay. It’s been showing up on and off, so maybe that’s why. Currently, it’s working on my phone but not on either my laptop or my desktop (PC and Mac, respectively).

    I’ve actually tried clearing the cache at various points, and it hasn’t worked.

    Sounds good–after 72 hours have passed completely, I’ll let you know if I’m still having trouble.
