Domain transfer
-
Hi,
I have a domain I bought from namecheap and I’m not sure if I should transfer it from my current registrar, or map it without moving it from namecheap. Can I ask what you would recommend is best?
Thank you! -
Good Morning –
The good news, is that there is not a wrong option. Neither of these is permanent if you change your mind.
A domain transfer can only happen if the domain has been registered more than 60 days. This is true across the entire internet as it’s an ICANN regulation (not our own).

With this option, the domain registration is included with your plan purchase for the first year. After that, you’ll need to renew your plan and $18 annual domain registration fee. That includes your hosting, support, and SSL, etc…
Domain mapping would be included with your annual plan renewal each year at no additional charge. You would continue to pay Name Cheap for your annual domain registration though.
