Domain Transfer

  Our school’s website is being managed by a parent who uses WordPress Layers and Bluehost in a personal account. We would like to create a new template and pages and transfer the site to one managed by the school and not use layers to manage pages. How can we do this smoothly?

  Hi there, are you hoping to copy the content out of Layers and into a regular WordPress installation without that plugin?

  Also, to clarify, are you migrating the content to roxboroughchristianschool.wordpress.com , or will you be keeping it at Bluehost? For what it’s worth, these forums are for the sites using our managed hosting service, which can be quite different from running your own WordPress installation at another host. Having looked at your site, I do think you could make it work well here on a Premium plan, but I’d want to be sure that’s what you’re after, first.

  Thank you for your response.
  We would like to create a totally new site in WordPress, using the Business Plan.
  I would need help with understanding what is needed to deactivate the old site once the new site is ready to go live.
  (I have never done more than manage a few pages on a WordPress hosted site in previous roles, and apologize for not knowing the process.)

  Gotcha. In order to move your content from one WordPress.com site to another, please visit our support pages on exporting and importing your content.

  In terms of shutting down your site with Bluehost once everything is migrated, you can follow Bluehost’s instructions here:

  However, I would also reach out to them to make sure everything is done smoothly and properly from that end.
