  I am wanting to play around with WordPress to see if I like the feel of designing with it. I clicked ‘get started’ and it brought me through an entire process (beautifully done by the way), but I’m not interested in transferring domains and doing pricing yet. Is there a way for me to play around with WordPress for free (with nothing being published) and then when I like how it feels, go ahead and pay for everything and get my domain transferred?

  Start with a free site https://wordpress.com/pricing/ with a subdomain ending in .blog or .wordpress.com. You can always upgrade to a paid plan at a later date to map/transfer a domain you already own to that site.
