domain transfer
-
I have an .eu domain, but I did not see it on your list of eligible domains for transfer?
-
But if you want a site here at WordPress.com you could keep the domain where you registered it and map it instead with a paid plan:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/domain-pricing-and-available-tlds/
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/ -
But why can I transfer a whole range of domains, including all sorts of very specific ones, but not a major TLD on the world such as .eu? I thought wordpress is truly international and with no bias for US or against EU? EU is a major global player and its TLD shouzld be included in wordpress’s TLDs fully transferable, no?
Wordpress says under the link you indicated:
If you would like to manage your site and domain all in one place, you can follow the steps to transfer the domain to us instead of mapping. -
The first link I posted says:
If a TLD is not listed below, it cannot be registered or transferred to us.
I guess WordPress.com (being mostly based in the States) is not an accredited domain provider for the .eu domain extension.

This would be very sad story, as wordpress was co-developed by the British Mike Little and as the world’s largest open source CMS community covers virtually all continents, so they should also be able to integrate .eu domains
-
com and org are two different things. WordPress.com is a business that specialises in hosting sites with a modified version of the free wordpress software. Some domains like .fr can’t be transferred here or registered here perhaps for logistical or economic reasons.

Hi there,
The WordPress software is an open source project, belongs to the WordPress community, and managed by the non-profit WordPress Foundation. WordPress does not offer any domains, as it’s not a domain registrar.
WordPress.com is a private, for-profit company, registered in the US, that offers hosting for the WordPress software, as well as domain registrar services.
As a domain registrar, we can only accept transfers-in of TLDs for which we’re accredited, and we do not have accreditation for .eu. Getting accreditation for a new TLD is a long and expensive process, and while we might add .eu to our portfolio at some point, I cannot guarantee that that will happen, as it will depend on the specific requirements for that particular TLD.
That does not prevent you from using a .eu domain here via our domain mapping option. But at this time it’s not possible to transfer a .eu domain to us.

Thanks, I understand the issue now, somebody explained me that I simply confused wordpress.org with wordpress.com! Thank you again…
