Domain Transfer

  Hi, is it possible to setup a wordpress store and then transfer my shopify domain once the wordpress store is completed? Or would I have to close my shopify store while wordpress was being constructed?

  Hi @emeraldxl, you’re welcome to create your new site with us before pointing the domain here. That way your current site can stay “live” until your new one is ready.

  I do recommend getting a plan earlier on if you’ll need it, since they have other features you might find useful, including direct support:
  https://wordpress.com/plans

  I’m assuming you’ll need the Business or eCommerce plan too, to set up your shop, or Premium if you just have a few products and want to use payment blocks.

  Also, with the way things are set up currently, you can transfer the domain while still keeping it pointed to your old site. It won’t change where it’s pointed until you update those settings. Or, you’re welcome to just map the domain when you’re ready, then transfer it after the fact.
