Domain transfer
-
I am getting charged $12 annually for a domain transfer. Is this just for the length of my contract with the other domain vendor or will this be a permanent charge if I start a website with you.
Would I be charged the $12 fee regardless or only because of the domain transfer?

Hi there!
I’ll be happy to answer your questions today! With a yearly WordPress.com plan, like the WordPress.com Business plan you purchased, you get a free domain credit that can be used for the first year only.
You can use this domain credit for registering a new domain or transferring an existing domain.
As you’re starting a domain transfer, we’ll waive the transfer cost for you (by using the free domain credit). We’ll also renew the domain for a year after the transfer is completed. So you only pay for the WordPress.com Business plan for the first year. The domain transfer cost is included.
From the next year onwards, you’ll pay the WordPress.com Business plan and the domain registration renewal fee separately. The domain registration fee, as of now, is $12 per year. The WordPress.com Business plan costs $300 per year. So, to renew both of these subscriptions for a year, it will cost $300 + $12.
Hope that answers your question. Feel free to let us know if you have more questions.
