domain transfer

    Hello, I am trying to help someone with a very old version of WordPress, their website and transfer their domain over.

    I am having a lot of difficulty finding how to do so. Our website is made with WordPress but I don’t think it’s actually a WordPress web. Im confused and frustrated and really need to communicate with a real person about how to go about this.

    I have deadlines to meet! PLEASE HELP!

    Hey @babbey9, sorry to hear you’re struggling! It can be kinda tricky to work with very old WordPress versions.

    You could go through the work of upgrading, backing up, migrating content (here’s how), etc if you’d like. There are a few options depending on what you want to keep. A content-only import may work well for you.

    That said, it looks like a fairly small site, and it maybe easier to just start fresh here. Have you thought about having a new site (same content, updated look) built here? That’s what I would do if I were in your shoes. We even have a service that can build one for you if you want to reach out to them here. Or, you could create a new site here yourself. We have a tutorial here.

    Once you’ve got the content set up properly, you can connect a domain, add email, etc using a paid hosting plan. Then you can cancel the old site and you’ll be good to go. We’re happy to help with any step along the way; just let us know what you need.
