Domain Transfer

  Hi, we are in the process of transferring our site from WordPress to another host. If we have email addresses tied to the domain, will those continue to exist if we transfer the domain to another host? Also, our domain is set to expire tomorrow. I believe we have taken the necessary steps to transfer the domain to another host, but receiving the transfer code, accepting the transfer, and linking it to our new host. Is that all we’d have to do?

  Yes, but you may need to set up your email with your new registrar. How did you have your email set up previously?

  We had it set up through gmail, and it appears to be working although the domain has now expired. It doesn’t seem that the domain transferred correctly to Squarespace, though. How do we fix it?

  How far did you get in the transfer process?

  In general, it can be problematic to transfer a domain that is about to expire (or just has. For some reason, receiving registrars seem to have trouble with it. You may want to renew with WordPress.com and then transfer. Or simply keep your domain here and point it to your new squarespace site using these instructions:

  Question- we had email addresses that may have been tied to our domain, and now that our WP premium has expired those email addresses are not functioning properly. What are our options?

  Email shouldn’t have anything to do with WordPRess.com Premium itself. However, if you have let your domain expire, then yes, your email will stop working. You will need to renew your domain in order for email addresses at that domain to function.
