Domain Transfer

  I still have not received an email to approve the transfer of my domain from wordpress to bluehost and I would like to expedite the process. I have completed all the necessary steps for the transfer (I followed the directions on wordpress).

  Hi Alexis, I have just requested another email with the authorization code for you. It will be sent to the same email address that you used when you registered your domain name (the email address you are using with this WordPress.com account). Just to be sure, could you please check your Spam/Junk folder, as emails get caught there sometimes?

  Thanks Jenia! I actually did receive that email and I remember entering that code when I was setting up the transfer. I followed all the instructions from: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/transfer-domain-registration/

  ….and on BlueHost, it says:

  Current Status: Pending Losing Registrar Approval
  Registrar: Wild West Domains, Inc.
  You will need to contact Wild West Domains, Inc., who is the current registrar for the domain and have them approve the transfer. Otherwise the transfer should proceed within 7 days of the transfer purchase.

  I contacted Wild West and they said I should be contacting WordPress. On your site, it says “Once you start the transfer process with your new registrar, you will receive several emails to confirm the transfer. Depending on your registrar, they will usually include links to confirm the transfer. You will have to click those confirmation links for the transfer to be completed successfully.”
  –I have not been receiving a bunch of emails with links and I don’t want it to take 7 days so I just wanted to know who I should contact for “pending losing registrar approval.”

  Thank you for the additional information. Just to be sure, to which step # did you get with BlueHost (from their instructions here: https://my.bluehost.com/cgi/help/45#howto)

  Hi there, you can accept the pending transfer if you log into your Domain Manager and select Pending Transfers under the Domains tab. Once there, you can click on Accept/Decline to confirm your transfer.

  Thank you SO much! I figured it out. I clicked accept– how long does it normally take for the self-hosted site to be up and running once you accept the transfer? Thanks!

  It depends on the receiving registrar, but it’s usually less than seven days, or at least it’s never more than that in my experience.
