  • Hi there,

If the domain is showing as locked with Hostgator, you need to contact them to find out why. Once you transfer a domain away from us we have no control over it any more.

That said, I also don’t see any evidence in your account that you’ve ever owned a domain with us. This account is only 1 week old, and it’s impossible to transfer a domain if you’ve owned it for fewer than 60 days, so there is no way that you could have transferred a domain out of this account.

Thank you for responding.. I actually bought a domain through godaddy and meant to have it hosted at WordPress.org. I accidentally must have chosen WordPress.com. Because you are the same company can’t I have it just moved over?

  • WordPress.com is a company that provides free hosting for websites and blogs.

WordPress.org is a website for the community maintaining the free WordPress software. It’s impossible to get hosting with WordPress.org as it’s not a hosting provider like WordPress.com. It’s also not a company, and it’s completely separate from WordPress.com. You can download the WordPress software from there, but that’s it.

GoDaddy is a domain registrar and a web host where you can make a site with the WordPress software, but it’s a completely different company from WordPress.com. If you registered a domain with GoDaddy and transferred it to Hostgator, you need to contact those two companies to sort this out. We have no access whatsoever to your domain and never had, as you did not register it with us.
