Domain Transfer
-
Hello, I was wondering if I could transfer my website to my schools domain. I was asked by my professor to reach out to you guys to see if it was possible. I go to Plymouth State University here in Plymouth NH. My website name would be ‘tatyanalong.plymouthcreate.net/wp-admin/’ if I were able to switch it. If this is possible do you mind sending me steps on how to make this possible? I just would not like to lose the work that I have already started.
Thank you,
Tatyana

Hi Tatyana!
If I understand this correctly, you want your site (luxurybargains.wordpress.com) transferred to the subdomain given by your school (tatyanalong.plymouthcreate.net). For this, you can perform an export of your content.
You can follow this guide on how to move from WordPress.com to a self-hosted installation of WordPress.org. https://move.wordpress.com/themes-and-widgets/
Focus on step 3. Customize Appearance and step 4. Export / Import Content, the previous steps are not necessary because you already have a site installed, and the following steps are for connecting a domain (which you already have connected). If you want to learn more about exporting your content you can read this information https://wordpress.com/support/export/#exporting-your-content
If you have any doubts, I’ll be happy to help😉

Hi Tatyana,
The steps @cuellin provided above is if you want to move your content from your site here on WordPress.com, to another site at a different hosting provider/your university’s server. In other words, you’ll still be using WordPress, but your site won’t be hosted with us on WordPress.com.
If instead you just need your WordPress.com site to appear at your school’s domain, you need the domain connection upgrade on one of our paid plans. I see you’ve already added a Personal Plan and domain connection upgrade to your site, so if that’s your intention you’re already halfway there.
To complete the process, you still need to point your subdomain, tatyanalong.plymouthcreate.net, to your WordPress.com site. To do that, you’ll need to edit the DNS records for the
plymouthcreate.netdomain, and add a CNAME record for the name, tatyanalong, pointing to the alias,luxurybargains.wordpress.com.I’m guessing someone in your school’s IT department will need to do this for you, but if you give them that information, they’ll know what to do with it.
