  Hi there!

  If you already have a domain, you can transfer it here but it’s not free to do so. I believe it’s $18.00/year depending on the domain, and because of the transfer, the domain gets renewed for an additional year.

  The good news is that you can transfer the domain for free if you upgrade to any paid plan (https://wordpress.com/pricing/) and you’d need a plan to be able to set your custom domain as your main address instead of your free .wordpress.com address.

  There is another option to transfer your domain. You could Connect your domain to point it to your WordPress.com site, in this way you’d keep your domain at your current provider. The connection costs $13.00/year and it is also included for free in annual plans.

  Hi there,

  To transfer a domain to us, you need to upgrade your WordPress.com site to a paid plan. If you select the annual plan, one domain transfer is included for free. If you select a monthly plan, you’ll need to pay extra for the domain transfer.

  Either way, as part of the transfer your domain will be automatically renewed for another year, and that’s essentially what you’re paying for.
