domain transfer
-
I have a GoDaddy website, and want to move (possibly re-do) on WordPress. I know I can either Transfer an existing domain OR Connect an existing domain to a WordPress.com site. I think I should choose the latter, so I can keep my site up and running (while I rebuild on WordPress). Can I do the ‘Transfer’ to WordPress later? Or am I locked in with GoDaddy if I choose the 2nd option?
I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

Hi there,
Can I do the ‘Transfer’ to WordPress later? Or am I locked in with GoDaddy if I choose the 2nd option?
Sure! For the site to go live here, you would need to point the domain to our name servers. That can happen sometime after the domain transfer. Or you can wait to connect your domain until you’re ready to go live. Whatever works for you.
There’s also an option to just use a free domain for now. You’re welcome to choose that and upgrade later, as you like. If you have other questions, just let us know. Cheers!
