Domain Transfer

    I purchased a domain name via Etsy and was going to use their website builder to create mine. I did not like their set up and ended up using WordPress. It has been 60 days so I am able to transfer. Can I make that my website address for my WordPress site? Do I have to pay for the WordPress upgrade to make that happen?

    Hi Michelle,

    Welcome to WordPress.com. I hope you’ll find it as enjoyable as me =)

    If you want your domain to point to your WordPress.com site, that is absolutely possible. It’s called domain mapping, and you can read more about it here. But yes, you have to purchase an upgraded plan to do this. The cheapest one starts at 2.99 USD a month, and you can check out the different plans here.

    However, please note that you’re not able to transfer the domain itself to WordPress.com (see comment below). This might be possible in the future, but not now. However, the domain mapping technique should solve you’re problem, so it shouldn’t be an issue.
