Domain transfer

  • Unknown's avatar

I had a domain on bluehost and was setting my site up with wordpress, and ended up transferring the domain to squarespace. I didn’t get a chance to copy the content I had on my homepage and now I seem to have lost it.
Is there any chance of being able to get that content back? Or even just look at what was on my homepage? There just some text content I needed off there

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

You can search for a cached version of your site on Google’s cache:

    and on Internet Archive:

  • Hi there,

We don’t have any access to the content of a site you had at Bluehost. You can try contacting Bluehost and ask them if they can still provide you with an export file, or a full site backup of the site you had with them, and then you can work with Squarespace to get that imported.

Another option, if your hosting plan with Bluehost is still active, is to create a subdomain on your domain with Squarespace, connect that to your Bluehost site, which will allow you to log into the dashboard and export your content.

If the hosting plan at Bluehost is no longer active, and they don’t have any backups of your site left on their system, you’ll need to manually recover it using options like @fstat gave above.
