domain transfer

    Hi there,
    I initiated a transfer of my domain aerialcheryl.com to Wix at the end of February. Now they are telling me that it never transferred and it is hosted by Wild West Domains and has expired. Can someone please help me decipher what has occurred and how I access this domain again?

    Hi aerialcheryl,

    I initiated a transfer of my domain aerialcheryl.com to Wix at the end of February.

    Our system shows a transfer code was generated but the transfer process wasn’t completed. Once you have the transfer code, two things need to happen in order to complete the process — the transfer code needs to be sent to your new registrar and the transfer needs to be confirmed on their end.

    it is hosted by Wild West Domains and has expired.

    Wild West Domains is our domain partner.

    Now they are telling me that it never transferred and it is hosted by Wild West Domains and has expired.

    aerialcheryl.com expired on 2017-03-22 and is currently in the redemption period:

    Recover an Expired or Cancelled Domain

    I can try and recover the domain for you, but an $80 redemption fee will need to be added to the regular domain renewal cost ($18). If you agree to these costs I can generate a payment request for the amount. Once that has been paid, we can start the process of trying to get your domain back.

    If you do not want to pay the fee, you can wait until the domain is released but this is the riskier option because there is no guarantee you will be able to get it back again.

    Once the domain is restored, I can help you transfer it to Wix.

    Hi there,
    Thank you for the response. I never received a transfer code during the process. I do not want to spend an extra $80 to solve this. Is there anything else I can do?

    I never received a transfer code during the process.

    I’ve had a look at the domain records and the transfer code was sent to the email address on file for that domain, in February. This code needs to be given to your new domain registrar in order to start the transfer. The code wasn’t entered at their end so the transfer was never started.

    I do not want to spend an extra $80 to solve this. Is there anything else I can do?

    We are charged $80 by the registry to recover domains in redemption so we are unable to waive the fee. If you don’t want to pay it, the other option is to wait for the domain to be released and try to re-register it then.
