    Hello – I am considering transferring my domain to WordPress from GoDaddy. If I have it registered with you, do I still have to pay for a personal / premium / Business plan to have it become the site address for my blog?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi classroomgps,

    Yes, connecting an existing domain to WordPress.com requires a paid plan. There are a couple of days to do this:

    1. Domain mapping

    It will remain registered with GoDaddy but domain mapping will create a connection to WordPress.com. The domain itself will still need to renewed through GoDaddy each year in additional to your WordPress.com plan.

    2. Transfer the domain to WordPress.com

    With this option, the site and domain can be managed from one place. The domain will renew with WordPress.com your plan each year.

    The domain credit in paid plans would cover the cost of one of these options.
