Domain Transfer

  I have initiated a transfer of my domain name greenconvo.blog from Namecheap. After completing the whole procedure and providing the auth code sent to me by Namecheap, I still can’t get it done as I’m being prompted to buy an upgrade. Do I need to upgrade my plan before proceeding?

  Yes.
  You need a paid plan before you can transfer your domain at wordpress.com

  Follow the steps in below guide for successful transfer of your domain.

  Hello Neelgajjar,

  Thanks for your response.

  This is actually coming as a surprise to as I felt I will be able to make a transfer at no cost. One more question please: Why is the premium plan pre-selected in the process of the transfer? I would prefer the Basic Plan, but I noticed I’m unable to do that except I buy the plan first before proceeding with the transfer.

  This is actually coming as a surprise to as I felt I will be able to make a transfer at no cost.

  Please go read the information given in below link for transferring existing domain to wordpress.com

  You will need an upgraded WordPress.com plan on your site in order to transfer in a domain. Each paid plan comes with a free domain credit you can use to either register a new domain or transfer/map one you already own.
