Domain Transfer

  I already have a domain with another hosting platform. A) how do I design a site on WordPress without transferring the domain now and B) once the site looks good to me, how do I transfer/assign the domain (leaving it with current hosting company)?

  Hi @willfrench5, no problem. You can use a free domain until you’re ready to add the real one. Even if you were to transfer the registration here now, your new site would not go live until you change its name server settings. So you’re free to go ahead and start creating.

  When you create a site here at WordPress.com, you are provided with a free address like example.wordpress.com. You can use that address for your site until you are ready to move over your custom domain.
