Domain Transfer

I already have a domain and have been considering switching to WordPress. However, I would like to try it out before transferring to see if I’m able to create a website that I like on WordPress or if it’s too advanced for me.. So far I haven’t been able to find a way to contact anyone from WordPress to answer questions/help with setup so I’m starting to think it might not be the best fit?? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
