  Hi!
  I would like to try out wordpress for usability before transferring my site domain. Is this possible?

  Setting up a staging site on a local server is probably your best route if you’d like to test the usability of WordPress. If you don’t know how to do this, do a search on Youtube or Google for “Installing WordPress Locally”.

  Hmmm. I just realized I’m responding in the WordPress.com forums. The answer I gave may not apply to your situation. I was thinking you were using WordPress.org. Sorry for the confusion if I caused any!

  For WordPress.com hosting, just create a site and don’t choose that you already have a domain name. If you pick a free address like one with .wordpress.com, you can test out this system and get a feel for how you like it before making any payments or moving your domain.

  The answer from @leighjeffery more refers to sites not using WordPress.com to host. That’s definitely another way to go, and that WordPress can be found at WordPress.org. Here’s the difference:
