Domain transfer?
-
I have a domain. It is registered with GoDaddy. Why do I have to transfer my domain or assign it to work with WordPress. Don’t you have a free version that I can start with and then upgrade for hosting my website?

Hi there,
If you don’t want to transfer your domain to us, just select the free address that’s shown on the Pick a domain step when you create a new site. If you don’t see a free address option, it’s because you entered your full domain in the search box. Enter a key word rather than a full domain, and the free address should appear as one of the options.

Does this mean that my visible and public URL will be something other than QicTic.com?
or is this “free URL” just a location for the content? Help.

Yes. If you want a free address here then it will have a suffix of .wordpress.com (or perhaps one of the newer .blog addresses). You can use the free site for as long as you wish. Eventually if you upgrade to a paid plan you could then map/transfer the domain you already own to the WordPress.com site.

Just noting I’ve removed your phone number, since these forums are public. Let us know if you have more questions. Cheers!
