Hello,

I want to transfer my domain derekodomauthor.com to another registrar but I get the message “Owner of the Domain Name has some pending formalities with the Current
Registrar.” I contacted WildWest Domains and they pointed me to WP.com support.
Please advice on how I should procede.

To make sure that only you can transfer your domain, the process includes several checks and controls, and takes a few days to complete. For new domains and after changing whois contact information, there is a waiting period of 60 days before a transfer can be initiated. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/transfer-domain-registration/

Hi there,

It actually looks like the issues that you’re having are related to the fact that your domain currently has Domain Privacy in place, which it cannot be in order for it to be successfully transferred.

The help article which Timethief linked you to is our documentation on how to transfer domains away from WordPress.com and includes screenshots. You may want to review it to make sure that you’re not missing any steps!

Hi,
Thanks for the helpful info. Unfortunately I don’t have the “cancel private registration” option available.
The domain manager states it’s registered with Domains By Proxy, LLC
and when I try to change the privacy, nothing happens.

Your input is highly needed as my domain will expire today:)

Hi again,
If someone from the staff can look into this I’d be grateful!
It seems only a staff member can disable the privacy option.
Also, the domain expired yesterday and I’m not able to register it newly i.o.w it’s still locked for some reason.

The private registration upgrade has been removed. This guide explains how to transfer the domain name to another registrar.

Thank you! Transferring is easy once the required settings are available to alter by us, users.
For future reference… Can you tell me why the privacy setting was unavailable for my domain, even though it was purchased through WP?

I think you weren’t logged into the correct (blog owner’s) account.

Hi,

Unfortunately transfer failed again. Privacy is still active also!

Expired on May 31, 2013
(no privacy settings available anywhere)

All dashboards go to the same thing
I can provide the invoice and domain manager if you need it.

I’m pretty sure all is fine now. The transfer is still awaiting approval but that’s normal. At least it’s not failing within an hour anymore.
