Domain Transfer

  Hi! We want to redo our nonprofit’s website. If we transfer the domain to WordPress, will we be unable to view our current website until we finish creating our new one on WordPress? Is there an option to create the website through WordPress, and then transfer the domain when we are finished?

  Hello,
  Yes, you can build your website as you wish using the free plan or a paid plan If you want, and keep the domain at your current website. Then, when you are ready, you can start the transferring process (you can also set the visibility of your WordPress.com website to private, If you want to keep it hidden until it’s finished, you can do so under My Site > Manage > Settings and scrolling to the bottom of the page).

  Please note that domains can only point to one website at a time.

  I just want to add that in addition to what airalis93 has shared you can also keep your new site private, and hidden from the internet. It’s just a simple settings change.
