Hi there,
You have two options for a domain you already own:
1. Domain Mapping.
This process associates the domain with your WordPress.com site. The domain will continue to be registered and maintained with the current registrar, and there’s no extra charge from WordPress for it:https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
2. Domain Transfer.
You can transfer the domain to WordPress.com, you’ll be able to manage both the domain and website from your WordPress.com account, all subsequent renewals will be done from your WordPress.com account, though, the renewals of domain and plan are independent of each other. Here’s more information on available TLDs and pricing:also are there shorter plans available ? shorter than 12 months ?
Plans are billed annually, and both domain mapping and transfer require an upgraded plan. There’s a 30-day refund window should wish to cancel:

Hi there,
So the domain is not registered on WordPress.com, but at another provider? In that case, any transfer of ownership has to happen at that provider. We have no control over who owns a domain that isn’t registered with us.
You could also combine a domain ownership transfer with a domain provider transfer. In that case the current owner of the domain will have to unlock it and get a transfer code from their current provider. Then they can provide the transfer code to you so you can submit it on our end to start the transfer. Once the domain is moved over to our management, you’ll also be the new owner of the domain on our system.
The domain mapping option mentioned above is NOT an option that will help you become the new owner of the domain. That can only be used to connect an existing domain to a WordPress.com site, but the domain will remain registered at the current provider, and will remain the property of the current owner.
