Domain transfer and renewal rate comparison

  I have a domain registered with Go Daddy. I need to decide whether or not to transfer the domain to WordPress. Who would charge more for renewals?

  It’s more a personal preference type of thing, really.

  Mapping allows you to keep the domain registered with your current domain registrar and direct it to your WordPress.com site: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  A transfer would allow to manage both your site and domain from the same place: https://en.support.wordpress.com/move-domain/incoming-domain-transfer/

  So, basically, are you an “all of your eggs in one basket” type of person, or “not all of your eggs in one basket”? :)

  Hi Macmanx, Thanks for the speedy reply! Is there a fee for mapping? Will Godaddy and WordPress charge differing rates for the domain name?

  Domain mapping is free with any of our paid plans, so the charge will be the price of the plan, nothing else.

  If you transfer the domain here, it will be included within the plan for the first year. After the first year, the price will depend on the domain extension:
