Domain transfer into wordpress

  I own a domain (maplegrovewt.org) through Doteasy; however, I would like to transfer that to wordpress for all services and cancel my Doteasy account.

  Is that possible? if yes, what steps are needed?

  Hi Jill. Unfortunately, WordPress doesn’t except incoming transfers, you can only transfer a domain away from wp.com.

  What is the reason you’re wanting to get away from Doteasy? Maybe I can help you find another alternative that will be suitable for your needs.

  This is for a nonprofit organization, so we are looking to save costs. WordPress offers great pricing for domains, and the site is very easy to maintain, so that’s why we wanted to build a wordpress site. If we kept our doteasy account to maintain our existing website, then if we did the domain mapping through wordpress, would that then replace the need to redirect the website, while not showing the maplegrovewt.wordpress.com web address?

  Please let me know if you need clarification, I’m still new to all this domain website stuff!

  Hi Jill,

  If you set up an account at wordpress.com, you’ll still have to purchase the “mapping” upgrade ($13/year), but it will enable you to redirect your domain to your wordpress.com site, so you will no longer need the site at doteasy.

  The only thing you’d have at doteasy would be your domain name. But that could be transferred to another register like Godaddy (which is usually cheaper).
