Domain transfer issues

    I bought my domain name from names.co.uk and signed up with host gator.com to host the site. I was instructed to change the name server to WordPress to build my site, but now WordPress.com doesn’t recognise it. I was following a tutorial on YouTube but it assumes that the domain is purchased at the same time as hosting. No idea what the next step is. Stuck now paying for hosting and a website I can’t build.

    You are posting to the wrong support forum. We provide support here only for WordPress.COM hosted blogs. Your site is not hosted by WordPress.COM and we cannot help you here.

    WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there.
