If I go to My Domains, the domain it doesn’t even appear there. So I don’t know where to begin.

The situation is that I transferred a long time ago but I never confirmed the transfer through email. So, my website got shut down and now Im trying to transfer it again and I can’t even find it in My Domains!

So what can I do?? My business is getting real damaged by this situation

It appears that armariolocal.com has expired and is currently in the redemption period. In order to recover your domain, the registrar imposes an additional $80 fee in addition to the domain renewal itself. Staff will need your agreement to pay that fee prior to beginning the recovery process.

Here’s more about domain expiration: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/

This thread has been tagged for Staff assistance.

  • Good Morning –

justjennifer is correct, this domain is in redemption. We can try to recover it for you. To do that our domain partner will charge an $80 fee. This is not our fee to waive, unfortunately. Please let me know that you agree to the fee and I’ll get the process started. Typically, it takes only about 48 hours start to finish.

Hi! Thank you for your answer.

Now, the thing is, that I need the domain so I can transfer it and not keep it in WordPress.

So, if I pay the $80 fee, will I get back my domain so I can transfer it to my current site host? Or will the $80 make the domain be at wordpress now?

    Hello armariolocal,

The $80 fee brings your domain name out of redemption and back current at WordPress.com.

Once that is complete, you should be able to transfer normally. There is an ICANN regulation that prevents domain transfers for 60 days after a new domain name registration; there may also be a waiting period for a recently redeemed domain, but the ICANN website does not specify one.

The redemption fee is so that we can recover the domain. You won’t be able to use it in any way until it is recovered. Once it is recovered and added back to your account you’ll be able to transfer it, if you wish. You can also just change the name servers to point it to the new site. But, that is up to you.

Alternatively, the domain is going to sit in redemption for a while, and eventually it will be sold again to the public. The problem with this option is that you will not be notified of when this happens. There’s a high probability that someone else, or domain squatters will register the domain first, and this leaves you empty handed. If this happens there’s nothing we can do to help you recover the domain.

even if I pay the $80 the domain will remain in redemption for a while?? For how long??

    Do have any other options???

I need the domain back now! My content site is loosing visitors and our whole operation schedule is behind because of this!!!

How can this happen this way??

    My only options is to:

Pay the $80 fee & wait 60 days to transfer it back to my actual site???

is there anything else that could be done?

    anything??

Hello again, Once you’ve agreed to pay the additional fee, Staff will send you an email with payment instructions. As @lizkarkowsi said,

Typically, it takes only about 48 hours start to finish.

    to recover the domain.

Once the domain has been recovered, even if you can’t immediately transfer it to a different domain registrar, you can point the DNS to wherever you have your current web hosting and begin using it. https://en.support.wordpress.com/change-name-servers/

To get the ball rolling, however, you need to confirm that you agree to pay the additional $80 fee.

  • Once you agree to the $80 fee I will first email our domain partner to initiate the process of recovery for you. Then I’ll send you an email with a secure payment link. We typically will hear back from our domain partner within 48 hours.

    My only options is to:
Pay the $80 fee & wait 60 days to transfer it back to my actual site???

If you agree to the fee we will try to have the domain restored back to you within 48 hours.

The alternative is to wait out the redemption period. If you choose to do this you won’t have any access to your site until it becomes available for purchase again and you are the one who purchases it first. As I mentioned though, a domain squatter or another person may buy it first, and in that circumstance you are left empty handed.

Going the redemption route, with the $80 fee, is the most effective way to secure the domain again.
