domain transfer/map question

I purchased a domain at go daddy.com but I don’t understand if I need to transfer it or map it.

Hi there!
That all depends on what you prefer.
If you have a custom domain registered with GoDaddy and purchased one of our paid plans, you can use that domain as the primary address for your WordPress.com site. You can either map it – your domain will stay with the current registrar, and you’ll need to go to their site to manage anything domain-related.
Or you can transfer the domain to WordPress.com, and we’ll be your new registrar. This way, you’ll manage everything from one place, and you’ll be able to reach support with any domain related-issues :)

Hi @ffcstaff,
Are you looking to move the domain to WordPress.com?
_______
With domain mapping – your domain will stay with the current registrar in your case, GoDaddy and you’ll need to go to their site to manage anything domain related:

Domain transfer – You will be moving your domain entirely to WordPress.com and you be managing everything site related to WordPress.com. To transfer you, you need to have owned it for at least 60 days.
