Domain Transfer or Mapping?

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m trying to compare the costs of transferring my existing domain names (currently on Mrsite-built websites, about to expire) with those of keeping them with uk2 and mapping them to WordPress. Please can you tell me how much is a ‘mapping subscription’? Is it a one-off or a regular payment? I see that for both I will need a ‘Personal’ plan. Any other hidden costs? Advice much appreciated. Thank you.

  • Hi there!

You would need one of our paid plans to be able to use a custom domain.

You can either map it – your domain will stay with the current registrar, and you’ll need to go to their site to manage anything domain related. Domain mapping is free with any of our paid plans.

Or you can transfer the domain to WordPress.com, and we’ll be your new registrar. This way you’ll manage everything from one place, and you’ll be able to reach support with any domain related-issues :)

The domain transfer is free with any plan – you will only start paying for the domain from the second year. The cost of the domain will depend on its extension (TLD). Here you can check the full list of prices:

Let me know if you have any more questions regarding that.
