Domain transfer to blogspot account

I have been trying to figure this out for almost two hours and I’m afraid that I might have made things worse. I am trying to transfer my domain http://www.metamorphoselit.com from wordpress to blogspot (http://metamorphoselit.blogspot.com) and I can’t seem to figure out what the instructions are telling me. Mostly because what the fields say in the instructions don’t match up with what I see on the screens. Can someone help me? Can someone on staff review this and help me get this sorted out?

I just don’t want to make things words.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m not staff — but, you might try finding the info here:

Oh, sorry… that’s not the BlogSpot page.

You may already have it, but here’s what I was looking for.

Thanks, but I can’t make heads or tails of most of this. I found the DNS update page in wordpress and in blogger, but I have no idea how to tell if I’m doing any of it right. And I don’t know how to get a hold of anyone at wordpress to get help.

Okay, so somehow I figured most of it out, but I need support from someone who can tell me why the link gives an error message if the www isn’t typed at the front of the web address.

And now I’ve figured that out as well. For anyone else transferring and wondering what to do:

    1. Go to your WordPress dashboards and select My Domains and click on the Edit Domain button beside the desired domain. Then select Transfer Domain and Request Transfer Code.

    2. Once you request the code and select Unlock Domain, you can then click Edit DNS from the side menu.

    3. Go to your BlogSpot dashboard and select the appropriate blog. Select Settings, Basic, and Set up a 3rd party URL for your blog. Enter the domain in the box (for example http://www.yourdomain.com). Click Save. You will get an error message, but the information you need to change the CNAME is given to you here!

    4. Copy the first code in the Name, Label, or Host field, then go to WordPress, select CNAME in the drop down menu, and paste the selected text into the first field. Go back to BlogSpot and copy the code in the Destination, Target, or Points To field, then go to WordPress and past the selected text into the second field. Click Add. Repeat this entire step for the second line of code in BlogSpot, adding a second CNAME file.

    5. Go to WordPress and delete any editable A or CNAME fields YOU DID NOT ALREADY ADD. Create 4 new A fields by pasting the following IPaddresses in the second field and click ADD after each. Make sure to leave the first field blank. It will default to your domain address.
    216.239.32.21
    216.239.34.21
    216.239.36.21
    216.239.38.21

    6. Click Save Changes. This should complete your work in WordPress.

    7. Go to BlogSpot and click Save again. If you entered everything correctly in WordPress, you should not receive the error message again.

    8. Make sure the box for “Redirects yourdomain.com to http://www.yourdomain.com” is SELECTED. Save again.

You can then test the link. If the domain purchase is fairly new, there may be a delay in the redirect.

  • So, just to make sure, you are all set now?

Yes. I sorted it out the next morning.
