Domain transfer to Namecheap is denied: domain has private registration & more

I completed the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/transfer-domain-registration/ to attempt to transfer my domain to Namecheap (i.e., I unlocked the domain, got an authorization code, and completed the necessary steps at Namecheap). A few minutes later I received two emails from WordPress:
1. “The transfer of <mydomain> from WordPress.com to another registrar could not be completed for the following reason(s). Express written objection to the transfer from the Transfer Contact. (e.g. – email, fax, paper document or other processes by which the Transfer Contact has expressly and voluntarily objected through opt-in means).”
When I attempted to pursue the link in the email to say my domain does not fit that situation, the page where I authenticate fails to recognize my username and password (I tried multiple times), although those same credentials work successfully log on to WordPress.
2. “The request to transfer the following domain name(s) to another registrar has been denied. The domain(s) current has Private Registration.” The email says I must cancel Private Registration to transfer the domain, but I can’t find a way to do this anywhere, and I have looked all over my account. It’s also not mentioned in the instructions for transferring the domain.
I see that others in this forum have experienced the same problem, and the only answer I see is to work with a support person. I submitted email asking WordPress for help 3 days ago and haven’t heard anything, so I will now try here as well.

Hi there,
We user a couple different domain providers on WordPress.com, and the one through which we have your domain registered sometimes do this if private registration is still active on a domain.
I’ve now manually disabled that, so please try to start the transfer again at Namecheap. Let me know if you still get that error.
Just an extra note: Please don’t cancel anything on our end, even after starting the transfer. Once it completes we’ll automatically remove the domain upgrade from your account with us. If you cancel the domain with us, that will prevent the transfer from completing :)

After I log on at wordpress.com I do not see a way to manage my domain and get the auth code I need to enter at namecheap.
And I don’t have credentials to authenticate at Wild West Domains.
How am I supposed to get the auth code?

Thank you, but those directions don’t work because the option to manage my domain on my dashboard is no longer available. The page that previously would have shown me my domains now is a “Plans” page that shows the options for purchasing a domain. That was why I couldn’t get an auth code.
The good news is that I called Wild West Domains and they were able to help me.
