Domain transfer to Squarespace

    I unlocked my domain and disabled private registration. I received an authorization code and have been trying to follow Squarespace’s directions for domain transfer from WordPress but have hit a snag. Their directions say I need to edit the cname but I am unable to do so in the my domains wordpress page.

    Hi there,

    It looks to me as if the domain transfer is not yet complete. There was an ICANN email that was sent to you that you need to open in order to confirm the transfer. I have just triggered that email be resent to you.

    Once that’s done, the transfer can be accepted here:

    https://pentimentomag.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains

    Click Edit Domain → Transfer Domain. Then accept the transfer.

    This would only be done if you planned on keeping your domain here, but wanted to map it to your Squarespace site. To do this, you’ll also go to:

    https://pentimentomag.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains

    Now, you’ll click Edit Domain → Edit DNS. This is where you can add CNAME records.

    I’m not really sure whether I should keep the domain with WordPress actually. I don’t plan on using the blog anymore at WordPress since I’ve created a site in Squarespace. Past that I’m not sure. I do know that I would like the site to be http://www.pentimentomag.org instead of pentimentomag.org. I also don’t know how to do that. Please help!

    Hey there!

    I do know that I would like the site to be http://www.pentimentomag.org instead of pentimentomag.org.

    This might help with your decision: we don’t map domains registered here to www subdomains. So, if you know you want the www as a prefix to your domain name, you should complete that transfer to another registrar. We’d love you to stay :) but understand if you want your URL to look a certain way.
