domain transfer to wordpress
-
Hello, I have a domain registered elsewhere which expires in a month. I would like to continue using the address, but with my wordpress blog content. In other words, I would like wordpress to become the new provider for the domain. Is that possible? Thank you in advance for your answers!
P.S. I have the authentification code for the domain transfer. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
It sounds like you are looking to ‘map’ your domain over to your WordPress.com blog. If so, then you might want to look into the Domain Mapping service:

Hello, thank you for your answer.
The way I understand it is, if I map a domain to my blog, it remains a service of the other provider, not wordpress. Doesn’t it mean that if my contract expires in a month, I will lose the domain?
What I want is wordpress to be the provider once my contract expires.
The support pages should this process in reverse (if I have a domain provided by wordpress and want to transfer it to another provider).
Am I getting it right? Or will the mapping be enough to keep the domain? -

As far as I know, and according the the Staff response on the thread below…
We do not accept incoming domain transfers, and you would have to change your name servers to direct a domain to us.
Have a look here for context:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/transfer-domain-to-wordpresscom-1?replies=6So yes, you will want to renew or transfer your domain in order to keep it in your possession.
If you are unhappy with your current domain registrar, there are many other great alternatives to choose from. You will just want to make sure and choose one that allows you to make the changes required to complete the domain mapping process. Most do, in my experience.
Hope this helps.
