Domain Transfer to WordPress
-
Hi,
I bought my domain on godaddy.com before I signed up on wordpress so how do I now transfer my domain to wordpress? Also, I have purchased the domain for 2 years + security/privacy on my domain name – is this something they will continue to manage even if I transfer my domain to wordpress or does wordpress take over on the privacy add on as well? -

Howdy –
It sounds like you just purchased the domain. If that’s the case then you’ll connect it to your account via domain mapping:

That process points the domain to your WordPress.com site. GoDaddy will remain the registrar of the domain. Once the domain is 60 days old it would be eligible for a direct transfer to us, where we can resume as the registrar and then all your stuff is in one place.

Yes, when you transfer the domain you’ll be set for 3 years because we add one year to what’s already been registered.
