    Domain (Transfer to WordPress or Keep GoDaddy)

    I have my domain purchased till 2028, looking to purchase Woo plan of WordPress and it gives two choices which are,

    Choice one – Transfer your domain to WordPress and We’ll renew your domain for another year.

    Choice two – Connect your domain with current provider and point it to WordPress.

    So my question is, if I select (Choice One) will WordPress extend my domain expiry to 2029?

    Hi,

    If you choose to transfer your domain to WordPress.com, the transfer process will add one extra year to your current expiration date. Since your domain is set to expire in 2028, transferring it would extend it to 2029. WordPress.com will then manage future renewals for you.

    If you choose to keep your domain with GoDaddy and simply point it to WordPress.com, the expiration date remains 2028, and GoDaddy will handle renewals.

    The decision mostly depends on whether you want to manage both hosting and domain in one place (transfer) or keep your domain management separate (connect).
