It’s not possible to transfer a domain to WordPress.org, as WordPress.org is not a domain registrar, nor is it a hosting provider. WordPress.org is just the site where the WordPress community collaborates on the open source WordPress software.
If you want to use that version of WordPress instead of WordPress.com, you’ll need to sign up for a hosting account at a provider like Bluehost. The link provided above explains how to go about that process.
But if cost is your primary concern, you should be aware that while the WordPress software is free, hosting it is not. And for any hosting plan that includes all the features we include in the WordPress.com Business Plan, you’ll end up paying twice, or even three times as much as you currently pay us.
Sure, there are cheaper hosting options available, but those will not include live chat support (or any support in most cases), site security, spam protection, automatic software updates, or site backups. So in that case you’ll need to pay third party providers extra for those features, which will work out even more expensive.
