domain transfer wanted after I build a site

I want to build a new site on Word Press. I have the domain already with an active and large website with another host. I want to build the Word Press site, and then after it is built transfer the domain. How do I do that? When I go to sign up it makes me transfer immediately. I can’t do that, I need my current website up and running until I can get the Word Press created.

You can build your new site here and then wait to connect the domain until everything is ready to go.
You can get a free site with a
.wordpress.comsubdomain. Use a temporary name for your site as an example: sitename.wordpress.comKeep the new site private as to not affect any SEO.

Once you are ready you can choose to transfer or map your domain to WordPress.com
