Domain transfer with space?

  We recently transferred to a different domain. I purchased 10 mg last year on December 12, 2011 and naively thought that the purchase would attach to the new domain?? We went ahead and kept the old domain (simpletreasuresphotosblog.com) but decided to make a name change to my actual name, laurastricklinblog.com. Is there a way to get my space I purchased transferred to the new domain? So I don’t have to purchase again?

  I would really really like an answer to this question. I have weddings/engagements to blog. :( I didn’t realize that you couldn’t actually speak with someone or email someone from wordpress. :( I really have loved the way wordpress works, but, I feel if I am paying for some of the services, I should get this answered quicker than it has been. :( I’m sorry to be a party pooper. Timethief, is there a way to tag a staff member again? I do appreciate you trying to assist!!

  Hi there Laura,

  I checked your blog, and you purchased the 5GB upgrade 12-12-2011, but I don’t see that it was renewed this year, so your upgrade just expired. Adding or removing domains won’t affect your upgrades because the upgrade associates with the underlying WordPress.com blog URL, not the domain. Is that helpful?

  Thank you for your response. So, even if I don’t use it, it expires after a year?? I’m slow on this stuff. lol. Sorry. And, I apologize that I got frustrated…. I should have taken in consideration the holidays and you guys have families too. I was being selfish. I will purchase a new upgrade on that then. But, say I purchase the 10. Even if I don’t use it all, will use of it expire in one year?

  Yes, every upgrade expires in a year except Premium Themes. The most important one to renew is the Custom Domain and Mapping.

  Hi there,

  Not selfish at all! I know exactly what it’s like to get frustrated and just want a helping hand. Don’t sweat it!

  So Raincoaster is correct – the upgrades (except Premium Themes, which don’t expire) aren’t predicated on the amount you use them, just the date you purchase it on, and it expires after 12 months. You can set auto-renew on your upgrades, by the way, to ensure that they will renew.
