Domain Transfer without Original Registrar
-
I recently have been hired to manage a blog for a company. The blog has been expired and I have been unable to renew it. The person who has registered the domain is no longer with the company. Is there a way I can get it transferred to me? The former employee is unable to be reached.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You are in serious trouble – the person that registered the blog name is the owner. Internet rules say that a domain name can’t be taken away from another person.
The domain name will need to run through the expiration & redemption process and there is no guarantee that the domain name will be released to the wild,it might be auctioned off or sold to someone that will hold it hostage – there are companies that will try and grab a domain name on your behalf – some looked a bit slimy to me, so do your homework if that is the option you choose
the whois info is below – they have private registration – but contacting the original owner is your only real option – I will flag this for the staff but they will tell you the same thing.

@bbornnjd – Upgrades on WordPress.com are “owned” by the user that purchased the upgrade, and not by the organization they are representing.
If you are unable to contact the holder of the upgrade, there is nothing I can do on my end to transfer it. I would need the consent of the holder of the domain in order to assist with that.
