Domain transferred but still pointing to old blog
-
Hi,
I transferred my custom domain eddyfy.net to bigrock and the transfer took place smoothly. But now I can see eddyfy.net as my domain in bigrock as well as in wordpress under my domains. And when I enter eddyfy.net in the browser I’m redirected to eddyfy.wordpress.com. I want to use eddyfy.net for a self hosted non-wordpress simple html website. And I want to close eddyfy.wordpress.com completely.How do I do this? Why is the domain showing up at both places?
Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi eddy5713,
If you want your domain to point to your self-hosted website, you’ll need to either:
- change your name servers to point to BigRock’s (this will have to be done in BigRock’s control panel);
- or, add an A entry in WordPress.com’s Custom DNS to point to their servers (you’ll have to keep paying $13/year for the Domain Mapping upgrade).
Here’s a support article that shows you how to perform the latter:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/custom-dns/I’ve also tagged this for a Staff follow-up. If you’d like to follow the first option (the changing of nameservers), they’ll be able to delete the domain mapping from WordPress.com for you, and you’ll be able to delete your site after that.

Thank you for the quick reply.
Yes I want to go for the first option and I’ve already changed the nameservers at bigrock and I’d like the domain mapping to be disabled for eddyfy.net
Thanks

Hi there,
I removed the domain mapping for eddyfy.net from your site here. It might take some time for you to see the effect of the name server change, but you’re all set from this end!
