  Is it possible to host a site under a free wordpress domain while I am building it and transfer the domain later? I will be transferring a .com.au domain to wordpress, is this possible?

  Hi there,

  It’s very possible. When you’re done building your website on a free WordPress.com plan, you can transfer your domain to the site but it will require a paid plan for the transfer to happen.

  Each paid plan comes with a free domain credit you can use to either register a new domain or transfer/map one you already own.

  You can build a free site here but I’ve read elsewhere on these forums that your particular domain can’t currently be transferred to WordPress.com. To use it here you’d need to keep your domain with your current registrar and map it to a WordPress.com site.
