domain transfers extension
-
so with my current domain provider i purchased 5 years, im considering transferring that over to wordpress, and it says i will get an additional year, so say my 5 years with my current provider ends in 2024, does that mean i will now have this domain until 2025?
thanks in advance. -

Hi there – what you have now is a 5-year financial agreement between you and your current registrar for your domain.
If you transfer your domain here you cancel your agreement with your current registrar. You would then be establishing a new agreement with us based on terms you agree to here. If that’s 1 year, your domain would then be valid from now until this time next year, 2021.
If you would like to keep your domain where it is now (because you’ve paid for 5 years), you can “map” it to a site you create here by following this guide: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/
